Disney Green Meetings
Environmentality™ When you host a meeting at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can expect an eco-friendly experience. The Walt Disney Company's commitment to the environment dates directly back to Walt Disney, going all the way back to his "True-Life Adventures" documentaries over 50 years ago. Today, the Company continues to operate in a manner upholding Walt's progressive ideals. From Disney's Worldwide Conservation Fund and Disney Nature Films, to Environmentality™, innovative programs and initiatives continue to flourish.
In 1990, the Company introduced Environmentality™, which is a fundamental ethic that blends business growth with the conservation of natural resources. In conjunction with the Company's commitment to Environmentality™, all meetings and group events held at Disney Resorts focus on efforts to reduce our environmental impact by minimizing waste, conserving water and energy, reducing carbon emissions, protecting ecosystems and inspiring others to do the same.
Disney's Commitment to Conservation The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) was established in 1995 on Earth Day (April 22) as a global awards program for the study and protection of the world's wildlife and ecosystems. It provides annual awards to U.S. nonprofit conservation organizations working alongside their peers in other countries. Many of the recipient organizations concentrate their activities on "biological hotspots"—areas rich in plant and animal life at risk of imminent destruction. Since making its first grants in 1998, the DWCF has supported more than 800 projects with more than $14 million in grants to organizations and individuals working in 110 countries.
Decades before television watchers could enjoy entire channels about wildlife and nature, Walt Disney made 13 films devoted to nature known as the "True-Life Adventures" series. The films became educational tools in public schools and aired on television for many years, inspiring young people to pursue conservation activities and careers.
