Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, one of the largest single-level convention hotels on the east coast, is expanding over the next two years, adding new dining options, resort rooms and outdoor networking spaces. The new resort enhancements will elevate the overall experience for meeting planners and attendees at Walt Disney World Resort.

As part of that expansion, construction is underway on a new 15-story tower that will offer views overlooking beautiful Lago Dorado, the resort’s centerpiece lake. The new tower will bring over 500 new and reimagined Guest rooms to the resort, including suites and concierge level services. A new rooftop restaurant and lounge atop the tower will offer panoramic views. The expansion will also include new meeting venues, adding a boardroom and two multi-purpose rooms to the resort’s current 220,000 square feet of dedicated meeting and function space.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will also reimagine its current resort rooms and transform its landscape with floating gardens and an island oasis connected by a series of bridges to other areas of the resort. The transformation will stay true to the convention resort theme, reflecting the vibrant spirit of adventure that lived within the Spanish explorers of North America. The reimagined Guest rooms will include new features created with meeting attendees and business travelers in mind, such as a new desk space, beverage station and more.

“Meeting planners and attendees will be thrilled with the exciting changes we’re introducing at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort,” said Terry Dola, vice president, Group Sales and Marketing, Disney Destinations. “The resort has always offered exceptional value, but we’re taking that to a completely new level with new accommodations, dining options and outdoor event spaces that will elevate the meetings experience at this popular Disney convention resort.”

New Meeting Spaces, Wi-Fi and More for Groups Meeting at Walt Disney World Resort

Enhancements at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort are just one of the many new offerings being introduced for meeting planners at Walt Disney World Resort.

A 28,000-square-foot expansion of the convention center at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort will bring the total amount of flexible meeting and event space at this popular resort location to 100,000 square feet. The new convention area will boast a 16,000 square-foot ballroom that can be divided into eight dynamic breakout spaces. The expansion will also include three pre-function areas and two distinct gathering rotundas providing unique networking spaces for attendees to relax and reconnect.

Additionally, new Wi-Fi and hard-wired services are now available to groups meeting at a Walt Disney World convention resort through redundant, high capacity Internet bandwidth for groups of varying sizes –  all for no or low cost, depending on the options selected by meeting planners.

This new, high-capacity internet bandwidth provides Wi-Fi to accommodate groups ranging from 10 to 5,000 attendees utilizing multiple devices, giving them the ability to stream video, check email, share files, access apps, and connect socially. Additionally, new high-capacity, hard-wired capability provides dedicated connectivity for keynote speakers and conference presenters.

These new meeting services are available throughout the ballrooms, meeting rooms, exhibit halls and convention foyers in the Disney convention resorts. And, they are in addition to the standard complimentary Wi-Fi service currently available in the guest rooms and common areas of Walt Disney World.

Liz Lonsbrough, Director of Global Events & Administrative Support for Hobsons, a Cincinnati, Ohio-based education technology company, looks forward to the cost-savings this will have for her upcoming conferences. “I’m very excited about this announcement,” she said. “It is truly a game changer in our industry that most planners would agree has been needed for a while. This will allow me to focus my budget dollars on things that can truly make an impact on my event, versus something that is a basic necessity in today’s world.”

“We’re thrilled to continue providing planners with even more resources to deliver on their goals by expanding the portfolio of unparalleled offerings available to planners and attendees at Walt Disney World Resort,” said Dola.

Beyond facilities, the Walt Disney World Resort continues to introduce new entertainment offerings, providing attendees even more options to enjoy after a day of meetings. Most recently, Disney Springs has completed a multi-year transformation into an exciting waterfront district for world-class shopping, unique dining and unparalleled entertainment.

Disney Springs also offers multiple new venues for private events and dine-around options including, STK Orlando, a modern steakhouse featuring a stunning rooftop for al fresco dining; Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ – a farm-to-fork locale inspired by the Sunshine State; Frontera Cocina by Chef Rick Bayless; and Morimoto Asia, offering a contemporary Pan-Asian experience with a unique twist by Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Other private event venues at Disney Springs can be found at Paddlefish, Planet Hollywood Observatory, The Boathouse and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.

Conveniently located minutes from the Disney convention hotels, Disney Springs can be reached by complimentary, round-trip bus transportation available from each Walt Disney World Resort convention hotel.
